BAK UP CIC was founded on 3rd November 2020, born out of compassion and community spirit during one of the most challenging times in recent history the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a grassroots response to families and individuals in crisis has since evolved into a dynamic community interest company dedicated to reducing inequality, empowering people, and strengthening community resilience across Northamptonshire and beyond.
During the height of the pandemic, BAK UP CIC mobilised quickly to support charitable organisations, schools, and households in hardship, delivering food parcels, essential household items, and emotional support to those most affected by isolation, unemployment, and financial stress. Our efforts demonstrated that when communities unite with purpose, no one needs to face hardship alone.
Today, BAK UP CIC continues to build on that foundation of compassion and action, delivering innovative, community-led projects that address the root causes of inequality. Our work spans across several key areas:
- Food Security & Household Support – Mobile food services, E-Voucher schemes, white goods provision, and partnerships with local retailers to ensure families can access culturally appropriate and nutritious food.
- Youth Empowerment – Through the East Northamptonshire Youth Ambassadors (EYA) and other leadership programmes, we equip young people with the confidence, skills, and voice to become positive changemakers in their communities.
- Health & Wellbeing – Community-based interventions tackling health inequalities, loneliness, and social isolation, while promoting physical activity, mental health awareness, and trusted-adult relationships.
- Social Determinants of Health – A holistic focus on improving access to education, employment, and healthcare, empowering people to thrive rather than survive.
- Community Cohesion & Cultural Heritage – Celebrating diversity through initiatives such as the Windrush Generation Celebration, storytelling projects, and intergenerational community events that honour identity and belonging.
Our approach is rooted in collaboration, working alongside councils, Integrated Care Boards, Public Health, VCSE partners, schools, and faith groups to co-design local solutions that create long-term impact.
At the heart of BAK UP CIC is a belief that every individual, regardless of background, deserves dignity, opportunity, and hope. We are a bridge between communities and systems amplifying local voices, challenging inequalities, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
